University of Brighton: What we do matters

Learning at Brighton is all about doing. Becoming skilled, confident and career-ready through real experiences and hands-on practice. Brighton is a place for doers; it’s what we do in the world that matters. Original music by Patrick Bentley-Sullivan, 2024, Digital Music and Sound Arts student.

What makes us different

Brighton is a place where everyone belongs and it is in the top 5 UK cities in the world (2025 Time Out Worlds 50 Best Cities in the World rankings). Its diversity shines through in the shops, cafes, parades, nightlife and arts scene and it has a great student community.

Living in Brighton has a positive effect on wellbeing; there’s an undeniable feel-good factor of being on the coast, from the fun of sunny beach days to quieter times with that soothing 180 degrees of open water.

Students also benefit from its proximity to London and nearby seaside cities and villages, which make it a brilliant place to call home while exploring beyond Brighton.

At Brighton, students form connections and learn the skills and knowledge to continue the path to their dream career. Each and every degree is built with employability in mind, incorporating vocational and practical training to ensure students graduate with the skills that employers are looking for.

Brighton is the be-all and end-all location to be a student. It is without a doubt the most inclusive and laid-back location while there is always something happening. If you wrote a list of art, leisure, sport, or social activities that you can think of there is a good chance they would only be a short bus ride away (if not in walking distance).
