Student life
Named one of the UK’s best student cities, Leeds has a thriving cultural scene to serve as a perfect backdrop to studying creative arts. There are music venues of all sizes as well as performance spaces and theatres around the city.
There are also plenty of food and drink options as part of the city’s Purple Flag-awarded student-friendly nightlife. For those wanting all this on their doorstep, there is student accommodation at Joseph Stones House on campus, or One Mill Street, just a few minutes’ walk from the Conservatoire.
Leeds Conservatoire’s Students’ Union help students make the most of their time while they study, organising events and helping students run a wide range of clubs and societies. They also work closely with Student Services which offer support and guidance when it’s needed, from disability support and health and wellbeing services to financial advice and study skills support.
Campus and facilities
Just a few minutes' walk from the city centre, Leeds Conservatoire is a specialist institution, offering the highest quality facilities which allow students to focus on collaboration, creativity and inclusion.
There are recording, songwriting and dance studios, fully-equipped practice rooms, production facilities, Apple Mac labs and a business hub as well as performance spaces including The Venue, a purpose-built 350-seat auditorium and 120-seat Recital Room for concerts, performances and workshops.
Leeds Conservatoire is the only English conservatoire to hold the coveted All-Steinway School status, meaning 90% of the pianos come from the Steinway family and students can also access a range of Roland keyboards and recording equipment.
Students can also borrow musical instruments and recording and rehearsing equipment and can access extensive online and physical music resources from the library and music archive.
