Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Officer (UK and EU Qualifications), University of Manchester

Biography

Heidi graduated from Lancaster University in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Educational Studies with Religious Studies. She started her career at the University of Manchester Accommodation Office as a Graduate Accommodation Officer. She has been engaged in student recruitment, admissions, schools liaison, and student marketing and communications throughout her career. Heidi joined the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation team in 2004, and since January 2016, has been Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Officer for the University of Manchester, managing work around qualifications advice and assessment.

Prior to this, Heidi was responsible for the work the university does with prospective students’ key influencers – parents, their supporters, and teachers and career advisers. She has experience of organising both undergraduate and postgraduate open days, working with schools  and their students. Heidi also has experience of developing and delivering continuing professional development sessions for teachers and careers advisers, including the University of Manchester National Teachers’ and Careers Advisers’ Conference, the University of Manchester Schools’ and Colleges’ Forum, and national UCAS conferences.

Heidi is a member of the Higher Education Liaison Officers’ Association (HELOA), the Undergraduate and Postgraduate International Russell Group Qualifications Network, and the UCAS Qualifications Information Sub Group (QIG), which provides strategic and expert advice to UCAS regarding UCAS’ qualification information and education information profiles. Heidi is also a school governor at two local primary schools in her hometown of Glossop, Derbyshire.
