We’ll help you gain the skills to thrive, adapt and innovate in an ever-changing world. We offer an equitable and inclusive approach to learning and teaching for all our students. Known as the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), our teaching approach has been recognised as sector leading. UDL means we aim to provide all students with an equal learning experience, flexible ways of learning, flexible study resources and flexible ways of testing learning. Around 170 of our courses are also accredited by professional bodies, meaning your learning is informed and influenced by current industry practice as well as giving you significant exemptions from professional qualifications once you graduate.
Our courses embed employability in their curriculum and our research feeds into students’ learning. You’ll be taught by academics with industry experience and researchers who have made a real difference in people’s lives.

DMU’s careers and employability service was named as the best in a UK university at the National Undergraduate Employability Awards in 2021. DMU is committed to helping students find highly skilled work or further study, with our DMU Works programme guaranteeing professional work experience opportunities, from business insights to placements and networking opportunities. Previous DMU graduates have gone on to work on Oscar-winning films and with organisations such as the BBC, HSBC, Nike, BMW and the NHS. We also have the eighth-highest number of graduate start-ups of all UK universities. From laboratories, art studios and study spaces to seminar rooms and lecture theatres, we prioritise modern technologies and equipment to prepare students for the future. The main Kimberlin Library offers a space where you can work, study and access a vast range of print materials, with computer stations, laptops, plasma screens and assistive technology also available. As well as providing a physical space in which to work, we offer online tools to support your studies, and our extensive online collection of resources accessible from our library website, e-books, specialised databases and electronic journals and films which can be remotely accessed from anywhere you choose.
The welfare of our students is extremely important to us, so we offer a range of dedicated services that provide support throughout their time at DMU. Our university-wide approach to student wellbeing is Healthy DMU, which provides resources to help students have a healthy, happy and productive time at university and develop habits that can enrich their wellbeing for years to come. Students can benefit from help with mental health, counselling, religious facilities and resources, disability support, and a medical centre on campus.
We also have a dedicated International Student Support Team to provide specialist advice throughout your studies. The team can offer general information about living and studying in Leicester, as well as help you meet other students from your home country.
DMU’s campus is located in the heart of Leicester, a great place to be a student; it has everything you’re looking for and more – a safe space to live and study as well as convenient access to accommodation, shopping, nightlife and all that’s on offer in the city centre. Leicester’s £350 million Highcross shopping centre has big-brand excitement while the established mix of independent and one-off boutiques in The Lanes adds something different.
While steeped in English history, today Leicester is famed for its vibrant diversity, where you can explore culinary delights from around the world in 'the most multicultural street in the country' - Narborough Road.
