Meet your UCAS Discovery guide, Hannah
Hannah is a Level 6 Technology Solutions degree apprentice at IBM. Before Hannah went to the UCAS Discovery event, she had no idea what to do after Sixth Form. At the event, she spoke to a degree apprentice who told her about his experience. She was really excited by the concept of getting paid, on-the-job experience while also getting to study – it was then that she decided she wanted to go down the apprenticeship route.

Hannah's top tips for the day
Before the event
- Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to make a decision– take your time and choose something you know you’ll enjoy
- Think about subjects you like at school or careers you’re interested in to help choose who to speak to. Pick at least three exhibitors you’re interested in speaking to when you get there
- Go in with an open mind. Speak to employers as well as traditional unis and colleges
During the event
- Head to the UCAS zone to pick up an event guide and Mission Card, so you know where everything is and have some starter questions for the experts
- Speak to different unis, colleges, and employers about your options. If you’re interested in one, ask them to scan your ticket so they can send you more info after the event
- Watch some talks – listen to experts talking about researching your options, applying, and specific subjects
After the event
- Head to your UCAS Hub – it has everything you need to collate all your options after the event. Anyone who scanned your ticket will appear in your UCAS hub so you can start comparing
