Teacher training transition
Here you will find the latest information on the transition work we are doing with the Department for Education.
Course management transition – FAQs
The Department for Education (DfE) published its teacher recruitment and retention strategy on 28 January 2019, which confirmed their intention to launch their own teacher training admissions service in England.
We are currently working with the DfE to move course management for all English providers onto their new ‘Publish’ feature.
The below FAQs should help answer any questions you may have about this transition:
After the transition, all English providers will be required to enter, and manage, their course data into the DfE’s new Publish feature, instead of using ‘Institution data’. This includes entering course information, and opening and closing courses. All existing data will be transferred to the new system.
All providers will still manage their applications through ‘web-link: application data’.
Providers will receive a confirmation email from the DfE, informing you about the timing of the transition, shortly before it takes place.
The day before the course management service moves onto the new Publish feature, UCAS will email providers to make sure they’re aware.
Following this, providers will receive confirmation from the DfE that the transition is complete, and will then have access to the new features on Publish.
Providers do not need to take any action for the transition to happen.
The impact of this transition on Welsh providers will be minimal.
Welsh providers will continue to make updates to their UCAS Postgraduate teacher training courses using ‘Institution data’, as normal.
For the 2019/20 recruitment cycle, applicants will continue to apply to all providers and all programmes through UCAS, as normal. Preparation for this cycle is already well underway.
We are continuing to work with the DfE on the transition for this service, and we will keep providers updated on the progress.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your relationship manager at UCAS, if you have any questions.
