UCAS today publishes the final Daily Clearing Analysis report set for the 2013 cycle.
It shows that, 15 days after the release of A level results, 459,750 people have been placed in UK higher education through UCAS.
This is six per cent higher than at this point in the last admissions cycle.
The majority of these placed applicants (369,410) will be starting their studies at the 'firm choice’ institution they selected earlier in the cycle. This number is higher than in previous cycles.
Mary Curnock Cook, UCAS’ Chief Executive said: “More applicants have been placed to date through the Clearing process (43,400) than in previous cycles. Of these, 8,770 have been placed after applying late in the cycle directly to Clearing - this is 25 per cent higher than last year.
“Although the busiest part of Clearing has passed, recruitment for this autumn is continuing with 2,420 applicants placed in the past 24 hours, including 1,170 through the Clearing process.”
UCAS will publish an initial assessment of recruitment to the 2013-14 academic year in late September, and a full analysis of the 2013 cycle outcomes in December.
The final deadline for new applications is 20 September and those who are in the UCAS system by that stage can make Clearing choices up until 22 October.
The final Daily Clearing Analysis can be found in the Data & analysis section of the UCAS website.
