Dr Eleanor Parker joined the University of Bath in May 2017, and has held positions in PhD student experience, student support, and on inclusive curriculum. In her current role she works for the Skills Centre, which provides pre-sessional, academic, mathematics and language skills support, and enhancement for students. Her focus is on projects to support effective transition, student engagement, evaluation, and assessing and meeting diverse student needs for skills development.
Prior to this, Dr Parker was Lecturer in Italian at St Anne’s College, Oxford, and Student Recruitment Officer for the University of Oxford, working with schools and colleges in the UK and North America. She led on student recruitment for Oxford across North America and co-created the university's Early Career Academic Outreach Network to facilitate PhD student engagement in working with schools.
She has over ten years’ experience in modern languages teaching and admissions at the University of Oxford, including as Course Director for academic staff training on fair and inclusive admissions. She is passionate about student wellbeing, and supporting students in their transition to higher education. In May 2017, she was awarded the University of Oxford Students' Union Teaching Award for Outstanding Pastoral Support, nominated by her undergraduate students.
On 1st July 2021, Dr Parker joins King’s College London as Head of Learning Development. She will lead activity on academic skills in and out of the curriculum for all undergraduate and Master’s students.
