An exploration of some University of East Anglia (UEA) academic outreach and taster sessions, run in public and private schools internationally. We will look at how we raise student awareness and engagement using the examples of international development, a subject that is not usually taught as part of the school curriculum, and “Kitchen Chemistry” school roadshows, to promote science as a study option. This session will involve some audience participation.
Learning outcomes
Delegates attending this session will gain ideas for academic taster sessions, to give students an idea of what studying at university is like, while increasing awareness of university subject choice, and how these can fit into your curriculum.
