Arts education in the UK is the envy of the world, and the UK is a global leader in the creative industries. However, since 2010, arts GCSE entries have fallen by 28%, the number of hours creative subjects are taught in secondary schools has fallen 17%, and the number of arts teachers is down by 16%.
In this session, representatives from Nottingham Trent University will discuss and debate the challenges teachers face in teaching art and design and celebrate the importance of a creative UK through successful graduate case studies. The speakers will also be on hand to offer advice on how to support any pupils preparing for the transition into higher education.
