Careers support

York has an award-winning careers service with a dedicated careers and placements team. The team helps students explore their options and map their career journey. Students are encouraged to take part in its renowned York Strengths programme. This helps identify key skills and plan careers based on what they’re good at. The university has an excellent reputation for graduate outcomes often appearing among the most targeted universities by the UK's leading graduate employers, according to the annual graduate market reports by High Fliers.

Postgraduate community
York is one of a few UK universities to have a students’ association specifically for postgraduates. The Graduate Students' Association is run by postgraduates for postgraduate students. It's designed to provide a social community and organises social and sporting events. As a college based university, York also has a dedicated college for postgraduate students. The college provides high-quality accommodation, places to study and access to a variety of facilities and wellbeing support. It also acts as a hub to make friends and socialise with students from over 150 countries.

Campus and location
Close to the historic city centre, the University’s beautiful parkland campus is home to a rich variety of wildlife, with lakes, wetlands, a tree trail and bird sanctuary. York is flourishing, safe and student-friendly 

Scholarships

York offers a range of scholarships and awards to help talented students from all backgrounds achieve their goals. As well as offering subject and country-specific awards, York recently launched a new scholarship to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The Postgraduate 60th Anniversary scholarship offers tuition fee discounts ranging from £5,000 to £10,000 to high-achieving postgraduate students. Applications from all offer-holders will be automatically considered.
