Student life

You’ll find plenty of opportunity to explore music, art, theatre and nightlife no matter which of our campuses you study at. Both locations offer green campuses in some of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Our different student-run societies range from the conventional (such as English Soc, Ski Club, Photosoc and Jazz Orchestra), to the more esoteric (such as the Chocolate Society and Hide and Seek Society) enabling you get fully involved with university life

Exeter is a lively, vibrant place with a strong independent business community. There are boutique shops alongside high street stores, and quirky cafes peppered amongst independent restaurants. A safe and walkable city, you can find everything you need right on your doorstep.

Cornwall, home to our Penryn Campus, is filled with scenic beaches and coves and dramatic clifftop views. The county also has a rich history of artistic and scientific innovation, making it a fascinating and stimulating place to attend university.

The South West of England is made up of seven counties, with rural areas surrounding key student cities – from Plymouth and Bournemouth up to Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham & Gloucester.

You'll find many a festival – including the world-famous Glastonbury. And if you're a cider or cheese buff, you'll have plenty to try in the South West. You can always walk it off in Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks, or beautiful countryside from the Cotswolds to Land's End.

Cornwall, Dorset, and Devon are big coastal favourites, with idyllic beaches and waves to test the bravest surfers.

Campus and facilities

Streatham Campus, Exeter 
Acknowledged as one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK, our 350-acre Streatham Campus boasts immaculately preserved gardens, lakes and woodlands that integrate seamlessly with the university’s historic and modern architecture.  
 

Penryn Campus, Cornwall 
Shared with Falmouth University, our Penryn Campus is nestled in 100 acres of gorgeously maintained Cornish countryside and provides spectacular views over the Fal Estuary.  
 

St Luke’s Campus, Exeter   
Founded in 1854 as a teacher training college, our St. Luke’s Campus is located on the eastern edge of the city centre and is home to Sport and Health Sciences, the Medical School, the Academy of Nursing and more. 
 

Truro Campus, Cornwall   
Situated at the Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) site, our Truro Campus is the base for University of Exeter Medical School students studying for a proportion of their Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) degree during years 2, 3, 4 and 5.
