Student support

We want every student at Durham to achieve their full potential.  We have a wide range of support available to you throughout your journey to help you succeed whether you live in or out.  For more information please visit our Student Support and Wellbeing.

Academic and Wellbeing Support

Every college and academic department has a dedicated student support team who can provide proactive and reactive support.  Your College and Department Student Support Teams can direct you to our specialist services, which include Counselling & Mental Health, Disability Support, Student Finance and Academic Skills.

Each Department has a dedicated Student Support Officer who provides support to help students engage effectively and progress satisfactorily in their studies.

Each Department also has a Learning and Teaching Team and a Postgraduate Research (PGR) Co-ordinator who support the administration of all taught and research programmes respectively.

Academic Skills Centre

Our Academic Skills Centre (ASC) offers Undergraduate and Taught Post Graduate students access to support for both academic skills and academic English Language. The Academic Skills Centre offers a range of support including: academic reading, writing, speaking, seminar and presentation skills.  For more information see ASC.

Housing Support

If you are looking to live out, navigating finding a house can be daunting.  To make this less of a worry, we have a Housing Hub where you can find advice on housing in Durham, find tips on house hunting and links to other useful services.

Scholarships

Durham University is committed to supporting the best students irrespective of financial circumstances.   We have a range of scholarships which are either funded by the university, through partnerships with external organisations or through generous donations from alumni and friends of the University.
