The University of Worcester is a close-knit and high-achieving community where students are supported to succeed at every level.
The University has been shortlisted for University of the Year in the 2020 Times Higher Education Awards, as well as Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Widening Participation or Outreach Initiative of the Year and the THE Datapoints Merit Award.
The University was named Sustainability Institution of the Year in the 2019 Green Gown Awards, and shortlisted for University of the Year in both the 2019 and 2020 UK Social Mobility Awards.
In the 2020 National Student Survey, 85% of Worcester final year students said they were satisfied overall, above the national average of 83.2% and putting the University as one of the top scoring universities in the Midlands. Fourteen courses at Worcester received 100% satisfaction.

The St John’s, Riverside and City Campuses are closely linked by footpaths, bus services and cycle routes, and are all within a 20-minute walk of each other. Just a 10-minute drive in to the beautiful Worcestershire countryside will bring you to our Lakeside Campus.

One in ten people who live in Worcester is a student. This means the city is primed for engaging activities, student discounts and innovative places to socialise. Renowned for its captivating history and colourful culture, the city centre is brimming with riverside cafes, stylish shops, and a host of theatres and entertainment venues.
What really sets Worcester apart are the independent businesses in stunning locations that you can’t find in every city, from bars in 16th century Tudor houses, to burger joints under railway arches, and pub gardens on the riverbank. Worcester is home to a host of live music venues, weekly open air markets, a retro gaming and pinball arcade and an indoor climbing centre. These vibrant venues are combined with the everyday staples and shops that everyone needs, including ample supermarkets, restaurants and cinemas.
Worcester has previously been voted the happiest city in the UK, as well as finishing in the top three for both safety and friendliness, making it an ideal city in which to make your home.
With a rich variety of industry, arts, sports venues and entertainment there are excellent opportunities for placements, volunteering, and work experience in a variety of fields. Worcester is constantly updating and renewing its opportunities with new possibilities each year.
The Historic Quarter of Worcester stretches from the Cathedral, through Friar Street, and on to New Street and the Corn Market. Here you will find many buildings and locations steeped in past culture and stories, from the tomb of King John in the Cathedral, to the famous Commandery, which dates back to around 1085, and the cobbled Tudor magic of Friar Street.
Today, many of the buildings of the past serve a modern purpose, housing a vibrant array of bars, restaurants, and independent shops.
Centrally located with excellent road, rail, and air links Worcester is easy to reach from anywhere in the UK, and the world.
Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff are all within easy reach, as are Herefordshire, Shropshire, and the Black Country.
The city rail links are excellent and were recently improved by the opening of the new Worcester Parkway station which strengthened connections to Nottingham, Cardiff and London.
