Getting stuck into societies and the community in general is so important because some of the best memories are made at university. It felt like home for me within a few weeks of coming here. Just imagine studying with gorgeous sea views and then watching the sunset whilst eating fish and chips with a sea breeze!

I'm originally from Southampton but work brought me to Plymouth before starting Uni, so I know the area well.     I am aware starting your university journey may seem daunting and perhaps lonely. Myself, having had moved to Plymouth from London can understand some of the concerns or fears around university life but hopefully my experience can ease some of your anxiety :) I'm in my 1st year of social work and so far it's been an interesting learning experience! My placements have been very insightful and inspiring for my journey in social work, at this moment my interest is around working in children's services but im still enjoying exloring my placement with adults. My previous studies being A-Level Psychology, Sociology and BTEC Health & Social Care has definetely contributed to my interest in this career path as I am intrigued in both sociological and psychological aspects of individuals with my favorites being around biopsychology and adverse childhood experiences. The best thing about this degree is that it's extremely broad so there's an interest for everyone. for example, it covers subjects from the medical field, law, sociology, education and psychology which gives you unlimited opportunities to explore in the future and plenty of career choices!

    I’m a current student on the MSc Advanced Professional Practice (Nursing and Midwifery Professions) programme, living in Cornwall and studying through a blended learning approach with the University of Plymouth. Previously studied BSc Biomedical Science on the Plymouth campus and FdSc Nursing Associate and BSc Nursing (Adult Health) on the Truro campus (both with the University of Plymouth). Currently practicing as a Registered Nurse in Cardiac and Respiratory health alongside my studies. Within the next 12 months, I'm hoping to obtain my Master's qualification and hope to one day teach as a lecturer at the University of Plymouth. I started off my University of Plymouth journey through Clearing, so I am happy to answer any questions relating to the Clearing process, as well as applying for new courses through UCAS.
