We’re a comparatively small university ... but we like it that way!
It gives us room to get to know you, and provide you with the kind of personal and academic support you won’t find in a larger institution. We were the first university in the world to launch computer games and ethical hacking programmes. We're ranked top in the UK for undergraduate computer games programmes by the prestigious Princeton Review. The city of Dundee is an important hub for Scotland’s games industry, and is the birthplace of many hugely influential titles including Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings.
Fast facts
Abertay has been instrumental in building the city of Dundee’s place as a global hub for computing and gaming, a perfect example of a university and business working together for the common good. Students recognise the excellence of teaching more widely across the university, placing it close to the top of the tree among universities across the UK for the second successive year. It achieves all this while at the same time being the most socially inclusive university in Scotland. Truly, a modern university.
