World-leading research
Abertay is renowned for its world-class research. We’re Scotland’s top university for environmental science, home to cutting-edge initiatives such as the SIMBIOS soil bioinformatics unit, the Abertay Centre for the Environment supporting sustainable business practices and the Urban Water Technology Centre pioneering drainage and pollution-control technologies.
Our research spans diverse fields including visualisation of complex data, policing and security (e.g. witness analysis, facial recognition, anti-money laundering), economic analysis relating to oil and gas, food and nutrition science, sports and health, psychology, computer arts and digital media.
Expert teaching and support
Our teaching staff are not only dedicated educators but also active researchers and industry professionals. This ensures students learn directly from experts at the forefront of their fields.
We understand starting university is a significant step and we provide extensive support including advice on accommodation, finances, health and academic workload management. Our counselling service and student mentoring scheme offer additional personal support while the Students’ Association is always available to assist through elected student representatives.
