Before you arrive

Study support

  • A dedicated advisor to support your academic development
  • Access to our virtual learning environment (VLE), containing course resources and other skill-building materials
  • Course representatives: student volunteers who voice peers' views to course teams
  • Library resources: physical and digital materials, including e-books and journals, access to subject support and bespoke skills sessions

Health and wellbeing support

  • Local GP surgeries close to all student halls, including Leeds Student Medical Practice
  • Mental health support and counselling: confidential 1-2-1 sessions on campus, online or by telephone
  • Specialist mentoring for disabilities, including ADHD, autism spectrum conditions and long-term mental health conditions
  • Online tools and resources to self-manage stress, anxiety, and other concerns
  • Peer support groups
  • We hold the University Mental Health Charter Award: an institution-wide approach to mental health and wellbeing

Financial support

  • Student Money team on hand for meetings, in person, online or by telephone
  • Support and information about accessing core student funding and additional funding, like the NHS Learning Support Fund
  • Advice about bursaries, grants and scholarships
  • Hardship funds for eligible students with financial difficulties
  • Guides and appointments on how to budget and manage your money

Accommodation services

  • 24-hour reception and welfare provision at LBU-managed halls
  • Residence Life team at LBU-managed accommodation to support you as you settle into halls
  • Live with other Leeds Beckett students in trusted partner-managed accommodation
  • Support to make informed decisions about housing after your first year in halls

Employability guidance

  • Bespoke careers advice from our expert Beckett Careers team, up to five years after you graduate
  • Careers fairs throughout the year, including school-specific events
  • Workshops and bookable sessions on CVs and cover letters, applications and mock interviews
  • Links with local and national employers, from startups and NGOs to global multinationals

Disability support

  • Dedicated advisors in the Disability Advice team
  • Drop-in disability advice sessions throughout term time
  • Support worker service to assist with notetaking, reading, specific study skills, sign language and more
  • Guidance and support with Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) applications
