Through four episodes, we dive into key concepts like the social and environmental impacts of tourism, the principles of sustainable travel, and the importance of authenticity in destination marketing. Professor Bryan Lavin examines key concepts of sustainable tourism - such as the need for responsible practices and effect of tourism on local residents, balancing this alongside effective marketing techniques to transform any location into a destination. Throughout the episodes, Bryan examines the social responsibility of tourism - specifically, surrounding the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. Throughout each episode, Bryan examines the intersection of tourism and sustainability, showcasing the potential for positive impacts when tourism is managed responsibly. Finally, through real-world case studies and hands-on activities, students develop skills to create marketing campaigns that highlight sustainable tourism efforts and connect with their communities in meaningful ways.

Bryan Lavin

Bryan Lavin has more than 15 years of tourism, hospitality and marketing experience working for the Convention & Visitors Bureaus located in Providence, Rhode Island, and Chicago, Illinois, focusing on meeting/convention management and business travel. In addition, Lavin supported all facets of the convention industry, working as a business manager for Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest professional association for event professionals globally.
