Join us at our next Norland Unwrapped as we explore equality, diversity and a fairer society for children and young people in this unmissable degree taster session. Led by Tara Nolty, Lecturer in Early Years, this taster session will provide an overview of our first-year degree core module Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and why it matters to early years practitioners supporting children.
Wed 6 November 2024 - 17:00 to 18:00
In this session:
- You’ll be encouraged to ask questions about the topic.
- You’ll explore the protected characteristic of age and how – and if – young people are treated equally and fairly within society.
- We'll consider some historical and contemporary frameworks of youth as well as ‘labels’ associated with young people.
- Through break-out groups, you'll explore the limitations and advantages of these labels and how labels can impact opinions of young people, what young people can or cannot achieve, and if these views are fair.
This microteach will highlight module expectations of student engagement while considering important equality and diversity topics covered in this core first-year module from our BA (hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree at Norland.
