Qualifications email FAQs

We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions about what to do if you receive a qualifications email.

Why have I received this email?

Each year, we run a process to match you and the exams you’re taking, so that when your results are published, we can send them to your chosen universities and colleges. During checks with the awarding bodies in May we couldn't match some of the exam results we hold for you, so we're contacting you to make sure we have all the right information.

What do I have to do?

  1. Check the list of qualifications in the email we sent you to see if there are any missing, or any you’re no longer taking.

  2. Send the requested information to us at ablreturns@ucas.ac.uk by 28 June 2019.

Why haven't you been able to match my exam details to the information from the awarding bodies?

There are a number of reasons this might have happened.

  • Your school or college might not have cashed in your results. This is where they request the awarding bodies put all of your module results together, and issue a certificate and overall grade. If you think they might not have done this, ask them to contact the awarding bodies.
  • The information from your exam entries is different to what's included on your application. It could be due to one or more of the following:
    • Your name has been entered differently – perhaps you used an abbreviation or name you're known by that's different to your full name.
    • You've provided the wrong date of birth.
    • You're no longer taking a subject you listed on your application as pending.
    • You've already completed some or all of the qualifications you listed on your application as pending.
    • You've entered a qualification incorrectly on your application.
    • Your school or college hasn't sent the correct information about you to the awarding bodies.

Why do I need to reply to this email if all the information is correct?

We need to know if the information we have about you and the qualifications you're taking is correct, so we can receive your exam results and send them to your chosen universities or colleges. Even if all the information is correct, please complete the table in the email we have sent you, and return it to us as soon as possible.

How do I find out my exam centre number and candidate number?

Speak to the school or college where you’ve taken your exams – they'll be able to tell you your exam centre number and where you can find your candidate number.

How can I provide the requested information if I don't want to send it by email?

If you would prefer to speak to us about this, please contact our Results and Application Services Team on 01242 544 678.
