Summary
National Progression Awards (NPA) are designed to assess a defined set of skills and knowledge in specialist vocational areas, are linked to National Occupational Standards and mainly used by colleges for short programmes of study.
PC Passport was first introduced in 2004 and underwent a major development in 2006/07 to ensure that it met National Occupational Standards in IT, while reducing the overall assessment burden and size of the qualification. Mapping of the PC Passport at Advanced Level ensures that it corresponds to SVQ 3, NVQ 3 and Scottish IT Core Skill at Level 3.
