Withdrawal of deferred entry applications

We’re often contacted by applicants who are no longer intending on pursuing their deferred place.

As our business rules state that two applications for the same year of entry cannot be active, we cancel the new application and inform the applicant, requiring action from the deferred provider, the applicant, and UCAS.

This year we’re introducing a process to run on 24, 25 and 26 January. By request from an applicant, UCAS will take the required action (withdrawal of deferred application) to allow their new application to be progressed. As a provider impacted by this process, you would be notified of this complete withdrawal through the link services, as per standard practice.

We are currently only proposing this change for the 2022 cycle, however, we will review the outcomes of the process to determine whether this becomes standard practice.
