An update on UCAS technology infrastructure projects

We are making good progress with the work to re-platform our core systems to ensure they are more flexible and scalable, supporting evolving admissions processes and our ability to easily make changes.

Posted Tue 14 December 2021

As a wide-ranging change with significant impact, we have engaged specialist help and are running an extensive testing programme to ensure the systems remain functional throughout.

Although we may need to make some changes to some cycle dates, we are not anticipating any technical impact for you. However, changes will be made in a demo environment prior to going live, and we may ask for your help with user acceptance testing. We’ll keep you updated with this work including other actions that might be required as the project progresses.

To ensure our current systems remain stable and performant over the ABL and Confirmation & Clearing period we will also be carrying out an upgrade to the databases that underpin them. We intend to work closely with you and your vendors over the coming months to provide sufficient time to ensure that your own systems can accommodate this upgrade. This will include early sight of any changes in a test environment to enable to you carry out your own assurance testing. We will continue to send you updates on progress with this piece of work as each phase of the upgrade is implemented.
