Flat file – we are planning to make this year’s Star J flat file available via our secure file transfer portal (SFTP) MOVEit by 12:00 on Monday 23 November. This is a change to previous years, where the files were available from our FTP server. Please be aware the file name will be different as we have removed the security key reference. The files will be available under the following file name convention:
- UCAS - hesuCCC
- GTTR - hesgCCC
- CUKAS - hescCCC
(CCC is your provider code.)
Your Primary UCAS Correspondent has access to our MOVEit service and can download the information. If other colleagues require access, please ask your Primary UCAS Correspondent to contact our HEP Team for help. Each provider can have a maximum of three MOVEit accounts. Further information is available in the

Changes for 2015
For your information, two new fields are included in this year’s data:
- new sexual orientation field
- new religious belief field
These new fields are both taken from the additional information section in Apply for applicants who have answered ‘Yes’ to the question ‘Is your permanent home in the UK?'
As introduced from 2014, the PREVINST field is now using the UKPRN as its coding frame. To obtain a copy of how the UKPRN is mapped to a provider, please email dqa@ucas.ac.uk.
Additional statistical data
Additional statistical data (Star X) is available on request – please email hepservicedesk@ucas.ac.uk.
A further update will be provided to confirm the Star J data is available to download. If you have queries about accessing the Star J files, please email the HEP Team at hepservicedesk@ucas.ac.uk or telephone 01242 545 734.
