Reminder: UCAS’ analysis of the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF)

On Thursday 21 June, we published a report which combines operational data with survey findings, to explore applicants’ awareness of the TEF, and its impact on their decision-making.

Posted Wed 4 July 2018

The top five key findings of the report were as follows:

  1. Around one in five applicants in 2018 knew what the TEF was when applying.
  2. UK applicants are twice as likely to know what the TEF is, compared to applicants from the EU and outside the EU.
  3. The majority of those who knew about the TEF said the awards were important when deciding where to apply.
  4. Students who know about the TEF are, on average, more likely to apply to a university or college that holds a gold rating.
  5. A substantial number of applicants who didn’t know about the TEF said if they had known about it, the ratings would have been important when deciding where to apply.
