Reminder: Display of criminal convictions information in odbc-link and xml-link

Following the removal of the question in Apply about unspent criminal convictions for the 2019 entry cycle, the link products should no longer display these details on applications, including those from previous cycles.

Find out more about the removal of the question in Apply.

However, since the opening of the 2019 entry cycle, we’ve been made aware that declarations made by applicants in previous cycles remain available via xml-link and odbc-link, and will be visible in providers’ student record systems. We’re unable to delete this information, because it was a mandatory field in historic applications, and by applying a change, historic applications would be affected.

If you’re using odbc-link or xml-link, and can see an applicant’s historic criminal convictions information, please ignore this. It is the information that was submitted in a historic application, and therefore not up-to-date or relevant, because the status of a spent conviction could have changed.

To support you with the changes for the 2019 entry cycle, we’re working on some good practice resources, which will be available to you later this month.
