The group will consider ideas for improvements to the system which can be implemented as either standalone developments, or as steps in line with any potential changes emerging from the broader reform agenda. The emphasis will be on student-centered changes which also work for providers, advisers and supporters, so we are looking for volunteers who will help us to frame an ambitious but practical plan for development.
Volunteers should have a good understanding from practical experience of the full range of admissions issues and challenges, and be willing to contribute actively to discussions, share their own ideas and critically engage with those of others.
We are looking for a broad representation, from all four UK nations, a range of provider types, with differing admissions practices and processes.
The group will meet five times between now and December, with the intention that the first and final meetings will be virtual, and the middle three will be full-day face-to-face events if possible. The planned dates are as follows:
- 20 July 2021 - Meeting 1 (virtual)
- 21 September - 2021 Meeting 2 (face-to-face)
- 19 October - Meeting 3 (face-to-face)
- 15 November - Meeting 4 (face-to-face)
- 14 December - Meeting 5 (virtual)
Volunteers are asked to commit to the whole programme of meetings and should therefore ensure that they have sufficient time and the support of their institutions before expressing an interest.
If you are interested in participating in this group, please send a couple of paragraphs outlining your current role, experience and reason for expressing interest to groupsandforums@ucas.ac.uk by COP on 2 July. If you have any questions, please contact Lynsey Hopkins at l.hopkins@ucas.ac.uk.
