We’re modernising the content and format of all our data resources for the 2014 cycle, including the provider-level statistics. Last year we trialled a new process giving you a four-week preview of published provider-level statistics, and we’ll use the same process this year.
As with previous years, the statistics will cover sex, age, subject group and application deadline (the ‘applications digest’), but will be published in a new, uniform format, with built-in time series and updated definitions to make them easier to use.
We’ll also be introducing two new provider-level data resources:
- ethnic group
- type of entry qualification held (A level, BTEC or SQA)
Two proposed releases that were discussed at the Annual Review Meeting, covering entry route and level of qualification held, will not be introduced for 2014.
The full set of draft provider-level statistics (covering all universities and colleges, not just your own) will be made available to you on 19 December 2014.
As with last year, you’ll be able to ask for a contextual note to be considered for inclusion with the publication. These notes are intended to highlight technical factors that would aid users to interpret the trends for your university or college, such as the transfer of a certain provision to another provider. You may also request that the new statistics not be published in this first year.
If you wish to add a contextual note, you will have until 14 January 2015 to do so. We will provide an email address when we send you the statistics on 19 December. The final set of provider-level statistics will be given to you on the 20 January 2015 ahead of their publication on our website on 21 January 2015.
Please ensure that your planning team is aware of the publication of this set of data resources and discuss it with them once it’s sent to you on 19 December. Please also let your communications team/press office know about the forthcoming publication of the End of Cycle Analysis Report next week, and the provider-level data in January. Our full timetable of scheduled statistical releases can be found on our website. If you have any questions, please email communications@ucas.ac.uk.
