If you are a university or college with HEFCE-funded provision, you will have received a letter from HEFCE entitled ‘UCAS data on accepted applicants for academic years 2015-16 and 2016-17’, dated 9 July 2015. The letter details HEFCE's requirements for reporting during Confirmation and Clearing this year. As in previous cycles, we’ll supply these statistics about your provider to HEFCE on your behalf, if you’re happy for us to do so. HEFCE has given us a list of providers who they view as having agreed to this.
The statistics cover UK and EU-domiciled accepted applicants due to start in both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 entry years, and whether those acceptances are 'immediate' or 'deferred' from the preceding cycle. They also report by some approximations to categories of student that either are not fundable by HEFCE (such as some nursing courses), or have been excluded from the student number control (such as the ABB+ categories), relevant to HEFCE’s funding. We will provide these statistics to HEFCE on your behalf at regular intervals for 28 days following A level results day.
If you do not want us to provide the data to HEFCE, please email arc@ucas.ac.uk to let us know. We will act on your instructions at any time. If you let us know by Monday 10 August, this will be implemented in time for the first reference point of Thursday 13 August 2015.
In previous cycles, we have also provided these HEFCE statistics to Universities UK (UUK) on your behalf. UUK has confirmed that they wish to have this data again during the same period for the 2015 cycle, and will provide us with a list of providers who they regard as having agreed to this arrangement. If you do not wish data about your provider to be included in the supply to UUK, please email arc@ucas.ac.uk and let us know. You may opt out of the supply to UUK but remain in the supply to HEFCE if you wish.
We’ll provide statistics about your provider – including those numbers provided to HEFCE on your behalf – as one of the provider-level Clearing statistical reports over the UCAS Secure File Transfer service (to which your Primary UCAS Correspondent has access). As these statistics can contain sensitive information about a provider’s recruitment, they will only be given to Primary UCAS Correspondents to share with appropriate colleagues. We’ll provide more details on these statistics and how to access them in August.
If you have any queries about these statistics, or whether you are recorded as being within the HEFCE or UUK arrangements, please contact us at arc@ucas.ac.uk.
