Our postgraduate beta collection tool

We’ve been working hard to develop our postgraduate admissions service for some time, beginning with our postgraduate search tool back in April 2015.

Later this month, we’ll be launching a beta version of our postgraduate collection tool. It’s a very early version of the service, developed following extensive research involving providers (including feedback we’ve received from meetings, groups and forums, and fortnightly webinars), as well as recommendations from the Courses Repair & Resolve project.

The beta will be a standalone test version of the tool; meaning, initially, it won’t contain all the features, such as bulk uploads or filters; these will be added as it develops. You will be able to fully test some of the functionality, as the tool won’t link to our search and apply services. Any changes you make will only be visible to you and your colleagues.

With this version of the tool you’ll be able to:

  • view and search for courses
  • create and edit a course
  • view your provider details
Our aim is to make iterative updates every couple of weeks as we respond to feedback.

We’ll be showing how the collection tool works during our webinar on 11 February – which we’d encourage you and colleagues working in marketing and admissions to attend. Click here to register.

How will I access the tool when it’s available?
When the tool is available, providers who supply us with their postgraduate course data will receive a unique URL link to the demo site, which can be shared internally to test the service. Please do not share this link outside your organisation.

We’re very keen to receive as much feedback as possible, to ensure we can tailor the tool to meet your needs. When we make it available, we’d be grateful if you could forward the link to colleagues who are responsible for inputting course information. Their feedback will be crucial in helping us refine the service.

Why do we need your feedback?
Although we’re currently developing our postgraduate services, eventually we’ll be using the feedback to shape our undergraduate, conservatoire, teacher training, and UCAS Progress services. Your feedback will help us understand which features are most important.

For providers who do not supply us with postgraduate course data, we ask that you attend the webinar on 11 February to get sight of the tool, and provide us with feedback at the end via the online survey. We’ll send further details once the tool is available.

Please note: the postgraduate beta collection tool is different from other online UCAS services, so you’ll need to register your email address and password before signing in.
