Managing your XML-Link access account

We are seeing an influx of incidents being raised where a HEP is unable to connect to XML-Link due to issues with their access.

Posted Wed 13 December 2023

XML-Link only allows for one access account per HEP and has an expiry date set on it. In the live production environment this is 90 days – and 180 for test environments. The account will also become locked if the password has been entered incorrectly three times.

If you are unable to connect to XML-Link please check your local error messages to see if your password has expired or has been locked following three incorrect attempts. Details on the errors that you would receive from XML-Link can be found in our connection guide on UCAS.com. If it needs to be reset or unlocked, please make sure you use the ‘Unlock/Reset password (web-link/xml-link/UCAS-Link)’ request type in our self-service support portal.

Using this request type means that your support request will quickly get to the correct team so that we can help with your connection issues. If its not clear what the cause of the problem may be then you should still log an Incident as we will need to investigate the issue in more detail.

If you have any queries please contact the Service Delivery Management (Technical) team on sdmtech@ucas.ac.uk
