A small number of training providers have been preparing for the 2016 UCAS Teacher Training admissions cycle by interviewing potential applicants before receiving their official application from UCAS. While this is not outside of UCAS’ business rules, we will be reminding all training providers that they, and the potential applicant, should be aware:
- the official decision about an application is the one that is sent to UCAS Teacher Training, and then made available to the applicant online. It forms part of the contract between the training provider and the applicant, and consequently training providers MUST include ALL conditions in their offer
- all applications received while a programme is open MUST receive equal consideration
- any offer received outside of the UCAS Teacher Training scheme will not be honoured in the event of an NCTL recruitment control being applied. In this situation, the training provider would hold the responsibility for funding this place
- offers cannot be made on condition of an interview
- the applicant MUST NOT be put under any pressure to respond to an offer outside of the published scheme timeframe (10 days once all decisions have been received)
