Improvements to ucas.com

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students, parents, and advisers visit ucas.com to apply, or to support someone who’s applying.

We receive lots of feedback on how to make things better, and over the last few months, we’ve been working on improvements, which will go live on Monday 4 June. These include:

  • a new-look homepage – we’ve carried out extensive analysis of how people use ucas.com, and given it a new look and feel, bringing the most visited information to the top, and making it more student-focused. View screenshots of the new-look ucas.com
  • improved navigation – on every content page, there will be a ‘breadcrumb trail’ for better navigation
  • revised menus – rather than left-hand menus, these will be at the top of each page
  • introducing quick links – at the top of key pages, there will be quick links signposting to popular content. At the bottom of each student-facing page, there will also be ‘You might like to read’ links to related content

What do you need to know?

How to access ucas.com/providers – to avoid students accidentally clicking providers’ content, we’re removing the ‘Providers’ tab from the top of the website. There are a number of ways you can quickly access this content:

  1. Go directly to ucas.com/providers – you can bookmark this page for ease.
  2. Click ‘Providers’ from the footer of any page, and you’ll be taken straight there.
  3. From the homepage, scroll down and click the ‘Providers’ box.

View screenshots of the providers' section.

Improved sign in process – once you sign in to the providers’ section, we’ll use cookies to keep you signed in. You’ll only have to re-enter your details when you try to make a change or update – for example, updating open days, or adding new users to ucas.com.

How to add new users – if you’re responsible for adding new users, you’ll need to click the ‘site management’ link at the top of the ucas.com/providers page. All other functionality here is the same.

How to give feedback – once the new site launches on 4 June, on each page, there will be a ‘Your feedback’ button – if you have any comments, please share them with us.

There will also be a ‘Was this page helpful?’ link, so you can provide one-click feedback on a specific page. If you did find it helpful, it will get added to your signed in dashboard.

We’ll consider all feedback when making future updates.

What’s next?

We’re working in an agile way, and will continue to improve the site, to make it more user-focused and enhance our customers’ journeys. We’ll keep you posted!
