Our 2017 qualification provision survey found that 23% of centres offering BTECs were going to continue delivering the legacy (QCF) specifications, with 65% moving to the reformed specifications.

The reformed (RQF) BTECs include external assessment components, and will be examined at the same time as A levels.

Pearson has confirmed that RQF BTEC results will not be available until August. We intend to make these available to you on the same day as A level results, subject to the same embargoes. We realise this will have implications for your admissions and recruitment, as well as marketing campaigns, so wanted to communicate this change to you as early as possible. It will also impact on the number of BTEC learners eligible for ‘early’ Clearing activities.

Legacy (QCF) BTEC results will continue to be available on a rolling basis throughout July.

Pearson should have an indication of the numbers of learners enrolled on RQF and QCF BTEC qualifications in March, which will help with your resource planning.

We’ll continue working with Pearson and other awarding organisations, and will keep you informed about changes to vocational qualifications.
