HESA has recently communicated a change they need to make to the new Tariff implementation plan. HESA has always planned for league table compilers to use the new Tariff points for league tables published in summer 2019. This accounts for the fact that the new Tariff will be first used with the 2017/18 cohort. However, a number of compilers have requested new Tariff data for earlier cohorts to use in the tables, due to be published in summer 2017. As the new Tariff is in the public domain, HESA believes it would be more appropriate to support the league table compilers' request, to help avoid them deducing their own analysis, and/or making information requests to providers. HESA has issued a message to its Student Records Group explaining their rationale for provision of new Tariff data, and the timescales for previews of the data to be made available.
Please ensure you alert your planning and student record colleagues to this change. HESA will manage all enquires, as selling data to league tables is a HESA activity. This issue has been shared with the UCAS Planners Sub-advisory Group, which continues to support new Tariff implementation from a planning and student records perspective. You can also view HESA’s message in the first FAQ on the new Tariff page for providers.
