UCAS has agreed with the Government to consult with the HE sector about the feasibility of introducing name-blind applications, as outlined in the English Higher Education Green Paper.

We are running this consultation in two stages – initially through an evidence gathering exercise, seeking views and feedback from providers. This will help us better understand how a name-blind approach could work in practice, and what other steps we could take to support you in your efforts to minimise bias in admissions, and to support widening participation.

We have set up a name-blind applications page on ucas.com, which includes all the information you need to respond to this evidence gathering exercise. The survey is open for you to submit your responses until Friday 5 February 2016 – we would like one response from each university or college.

We’re also running online focus groups and telephone interviews to allow us to discuss specific areas in more detail, if needed. If you’re interested in taking part, please let us know in your survey response.
