Not all GCSEs are changing at once – English language, English literature, and mathematics are changing first, with students sitting these exams this summer. By 2020, all GCSEs in England will be reformed and graded using numbers instead of letters. However, most GCSEs taken by students at schools in Wales and Northern Ireland will continue to be graded A* to G.
Learners may, therefore, have a combination of GCSE grades 9-1 and A*-G, which need to be reflected in the qualification requirements in the collection tool. When adding qualification requirements, please make sure you use the correct grading.
The Department for Education has launched a new web page about GCSE changes, and further resources about qualification reform are available on ucas.com.
