Enhance your contextual admissions this summer with MEM2021

MEM – the multiple equality measure – calculates the probability of your applicants entering higher education based on several equality factors, enabling contextual admissions.

Posted Wed 31 March 2021

Last year, for the first time, we released an updated version of MEM to provide enriched contextual information for 18 and 19 year old English applicants.

We’re pleased to confirm we’ve worked with the Department for Education to secure access to this enriched data for the 2021 cycle. The variant – MEM2021 – replicates the data we provided in August 2020 (MEM2020), but this year will be available from 1 April to support decision-making.

It incorporates:

  • free school meals eligibility at age 15
  • where applicants live, using POLAR4 data
  • income deprivation affecting children index (IDACI)
  • school performance based on attainment
  • school type

We’ve listened to your feedback, and this year you can choose how frequently you want to receive your MEM2021 updates – daily, weekly or monthly. Once you’ve signed up, email mcds@ucas.ac.uk to let us know your preference.

Signing up for MEM2021

Existing modernised contextualised data service (MCDS) customers will receive MEM2021 automatically from tomorrow (1 April), in the same file as your existing data – so there is no need to sign up.

If you’re new to MCDS, simply complete our web form and you’ll receive the data within five working days.

If you have any questions, please email mcds@ucas.ac.uk
