Our test environments not only allow providers and software vendors to test the integration of UCAS products with their own systems, they can also be used to simulate the applicant journey and assist with staff training and development.
The two test environments mirror UCAS' systems throughout the admissions cycle:
- HEP1 – represents the main scheme and is configured to allow testing of the application process for the current cyclical year.
- HEP2 – allows testing of admissions processes during Confirmation and Clearing.
Key services available in the test environments:
- UCAS Undergraduate Apply 2017 – apply as an applicant and see exactly how the questions appear to them. You can complete and submit the application, then use the link products to access it and make decisions in real-time.
- UCAS Undergraduate Track – sign in to Track as an applicant and view exactly what they see on the screen. This may be particularly useful over Confirmation and Clearing.
- web-link (applicant data) – access dummy applications you have submitted or bespoke test data we have created, and explore the offer-making process. This may be particularly useful to assist with training new or temporary Confirmation and Clearing staff.
- xml-link and odbc-link – available to test integration with your own student record systems.
More details on using our test environments, including getting started, links to the services available in them, and requesting data, can be found on the Environments information web page.
