Decisions and replies

When making offers to applicants, please refer to the Admissions Guide.

Posted Fri 22 January 2016

Please ensure you are referring to your Admissions Guide when making offers to applicants. Remember that your official decision must come through UCAS within 40 days of the application being submitted, and applicants have 10 working days to reply to their offers once they have received ALL their decisions.

You must ensure that any offers that you make comply with the scheme rules as outlined in the guide. In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the following rules:

  • Don’t make offers that are conditional upon a satisfactory interview. [The interview] must take place during the 40 working day period and before you make a decision. (Section 3.4, p18)
  • Please don’t contact applicants after making offers to ask them for replies. Applicants don’t need to reply until they have received a decision about all the choices they’ve made in Apply 1. (Section 4.1, P22)

Training providers should not pressure applicants to respond to offers outside of these timeframes.

In future, we will be monitoring your conditional offers and will contact training providers to ask them to amend offers that contravene these scheme rules.

For further support, please refer to UCAS' guidance on decision and offer making.
