Decisions and replies

Please ensure you are referring to your Admissions Guide when making offers to applicants.

Posted Thu 10 December 2015

Please ensure you are referring to your Admissions Guide when making offers to applicants. Please remember that the official decision comes through UCAS within 40 days of the application being submitted, and applicants have 10 working days to reply to their offers once they have received ALL decisions.

You must ensure that any offers you make comply with the scheme rules as outlined in the Admissions Guide. In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the following rules:

  • Don’t make offers that are conditional on a satisfactory interview. The interview must take place during the 40 working day period and before you make a decision (section 3.4, p18).
  • Please don’t contact applicants after making offers to ask them for replies. Applicants don’t need to reply until they have received a decision about all the choices they’ve made in Apply 1 (section 4.1, p22).
Training providers should not pressure applicants to respond to offers outside of these timeframes.

UCAS Teacher Training will be monitoring conditional offers made and will contact training providers to request they remove offers that contravene these scheme rules.

For further support, please refer to UCAS’ guidance on decision and offer making when making your decisions.
