Criminal convictions resources

Following changes to the criminal convictions question in UCAS Undergraduate Apply for the 2019 entry cycle, we commissioned the production of good practice resources in collaboration with the charity Unlock, and a number of HE providers, to support universities and colleges with the change.

Earlier this week, we released the first of these resources, including:

  • a video on good practice for providers, giving an overview of the changes being implemented, what this means for applicants, and how providers are responding
  • a number of recordings from our criminal convictions seminar in June 2018, including a first-hand account from a student who applied to HE with a criminal conviction, and expert insight from Unlock, Prisoners Education Trust, and the Longford Trust

We’re currently working on a number of other resources to support you, including a considerations document highlighting the principles that can underpin a provider’s criminal convictions policy, a checklist to support the creation or review of a policy, and a detailed briefing from Unlock on the criminal justice system and admissions. These will be added to our 'Changes to the criminal conviction question in Apply' web page in the coming weeks.
