Changes for 2017 cycle

As part of scheduled developments for 2017 entry, we are developing new functionality.

Posted Wed 4 May 2016

These improvements include:

Changes to the science practical

As previously communicated in bulletin 368, for 2017 entry (when all reformed science A levels awarded will be pending), referees will be able to indicate whether a learner is predicted to achieve their practical grade or not.

We have to represent these new A level grades in Apply, and all supporting applications, including odbc-link and xml-link. Although not previously anticipated, to achieve this we have had to make some small changes to the underlying data structure for both systems.

odbc-link: we’ve added a new column to the ivFormQuals table named PREDICTEDPRACTICALGRADE. We’ve also added PREDICTEDPRACTICALGRADES to the ivReference and ivReferenceU tables.

If you want to view predicted practical grades, you will have to update your systems to take account of these new fields from the 2017 cycle onwards. You need to do this by Tuesday 6 September, to ensure operational readiness.

No changes are required to receive the adhieved grades through ABL in summer 2017.

Undergraduate application and capitation fees

As previously communicated, for the 2017 cycle, the application and capitation fees will be increasing for the UCAS Undergraduate scheme. Updates to UCAS systems to reflect these changes have been included as part of this release.
