Change to functionality in the collection tool which sets publication status

Previously, setting a course as ‘Published’ in the collection tool made it available in Apply.

However, in response to customer feedback, we have now changed what the publication and application statuses in the collection tool do.

Publication status: This now controls whether a course is listed in our search and explore tools.

  • If you set a course as ‘Published’ it will be visible in the search and explore tools.
  • If you set a course as ‘Not published’ it will not be visible in the search and explore tools.

Using this flag has no other implications in UCAS products or systems.

Application status: This now controls whether an application can be made to the course in Apply.

  • If you set a course as ‘Open’ it will display in Apply, and applicants can select it if it has vacancies.
  • If you set a course as ‘Closed’ it will not display in Apply.
