Activities in preparation for higher education in Apply

Many providers, and national, regional, and local schemes, offer activities to give students experience of university or college life.

UK applicants are asked if they’ve participated in the ‘Activities in preparation for higher education’ field of ‘Additional information’ in Apply. The ‘Location’ list in this section includes all providers, so you may wish to encourage applicants who participate in activities with you to use this field. If the applicant doesn’t know the ‘sponsor’ (organiser), they can choose ‘Don’t know’, and we’ve recently made a change so if the organiser is the same provider, they can choose ‘As location.’

We’ve also recently updated the Apply help text, and our advice on ucas.com, to explain why we ask for this information. Applicants can, of course, continue to use their personal statement to include more details about these activities.
