The regulations set out that UK Nationals living in the EEA or Switzerland and coming to the UK continue to be eligible for student support for courses starting up to 7 years from the end of the transition period, that is, before 1 January 2028.
From 1 August 2021, UK nationals and their family members will continue to be eligible for home fee status and be able to access HE and FE student finance or be funded for a 19+ FE course as long as:
- they were living in the EEA or Switzerland on 31 December 2020, and either:
- they lived in England immediately before moving there (or have moved back to the UK immediately after living in the EEA or Switzerland), and they have lived in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Gibraltar for at least the last 3 years before starting a course in the UK
- they did not live in the UK immediately before living there, and have lived in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Gibraltar for at least 3 years before starting a course in England
- they have lived continuously in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Gibraltar between 31 December 2020 and the start of their course
- the course starts before 1 January 2028.
This will support you in assessing the fee status of UK nationals and their family members living in the EEA and Switzerland wishing to apply for places in academic year 2021/22 and beyond.
