In last week’s bulletin, we featured a story under the heading ‘2015 Awarding Body Linkage (ABL)’, which outlined the Access to Higher Education Diploma (England and Wales) and BTEC qualifications. However, some confusion may have been caused as we stated the changes being made are all in relation to BTEC, when in reality they are affecting both the Access to HE Diploma and BTEC qualifications. Due to the layout of the story, the action required element may have also been missed.
Unit grades for the Access to Higher Education Diploma and BTEC qualifications
We’re pleased to inform you that this year, in addition to providing the overarching results for the Access to HE Diploma, we will also be providing the associated unit grades. As a result, we’ll be creating two additional fields within the link products to enable us to provide the unit value/credit and indicate whether the unit has been graded or not.
The addition of the ‘unit value’ field will also enable us to provide the value for BTEC qualification unit grades electronically (previously this information was only available on the paper transcript).
Changes will be made to the following views/method:
- odbc-link – cvRefUnits
- xml-link – getReferenceUnits
- web-link – exam results screen

The changes are scheduled to be available in the HEP test environment in May, and will be introduced into our production environment prior to processing the first BTEC results in July.
