Matt started at Imperial as Market Insight and Data Manager in early 2023 before moving into his current role as Head of Market Insight and Data later that year. Bringing together “external” and “internal” perspectives via his Market Insight and Admissions Systems teams, he leads on management and stewardship of pre-enrolment systems and data, target setting, reporting and analytics development, primary and secondary market research, and insight communications.
Graduating in 2016 with a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University, Matt began working in HE as an Admissions Enquiries temp at BNU, before taking up a permanent role in Student Recruitment in 2018. Recognising the untapped opportunity inherent in the availability of HE market data, he developed a data-led schools engagement strategy that delivered strong results from its first year.
Matt then moved to Middlesex University in 2020 as a Market Analyst, with responsibility for competitor benchmarking, recruitment funnel analysis, and portfolio analysis. Over the pandemic, he played a key role in monitoring the effectiveness of the university’s adaptations to the new normal, with remit growing to include analysis of post-enrolment data such as B3 compliance reporting
