UCAS at 30

Thank you for working with us over the past 30 years. Here's how we can support you going into the next:

Journey to a Million

We project that there could be up to a million higher education applicants in a single year in 2030, up from almost 750,000 today.

In response to projections, we, in collaboration with Unite Students and Knight Frank, launched a national debate in March, highlighting the key challenges and opportunities created by increased demand. Fifty key thinkers across the UK gave their view, tackling themes such as:

  • How do we continue to widen participation?
  • How do we support students in a more competitive environment?
  • How do we promote the full range of choices to students?
  • What is the future student experience?

30 June deadline

On Thursday, we will be publishing data for the 2023 cycle June deadline data. While this year’s cycle is occurring against a complex backdrop including geopolitics, the economy and job market, and rising cost of living, we are still seeing a strong commitment among young people to go to university or college.

Offer-making is strong despite increased demand and competition, and student confidence is also high, with our recent sentiment survey revealing 97% of UK 17 and 18-year-old offer holders are confident they will get a place at university this year – an increase on 95% in 2022. 89% have received an offer from their preferred university and have accepted it – up from 83% in 2022.

The dashboard and accompanying tables will be published at 00:01 on Thursday 13 July here.

Confirmation and Clearing

Each year, we support almost 1.5 million students in making informed choices about their future. With Clearing now open, we are supporting students in making the right choice for their next step over the course of Confirmation and Clearing.

Our advice to students is to get ahead by researching their options well in advance of results day this year, speaking directly to universities and colleges and using the range of personalised tools available on ucas.com to explore all pathways, including apprenticeships, before making their final decision.

There will be plenty of choices available for those still actively seeking progression to HE after results day, with around 30,000 courses available in Clearing.
